Thrive is the national horticultural charity which enables disadvantaged, disabled and older people to participate fully in the social and economic life of the community.
Each year the Oldland Horticultural Society stages the Oldland Flower Show, Bristol on the last Saturday of August. Experienced exhibitors and complete novices are welcome to contact us for a copy of our latest schedule of classes.
The National Gardens Scheme opens mostly private gardens in England and Wales to the public for charity. Dates, etc. are published annually in 'Gardens of England and Wales Open For Charity' aka 'the Yellow Book' and on our website.
Llanfoist's 2nd year of opening 12 idyllic gardens falls on the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Gardeners will be digging for victory & showing delightful potagers. Disabled access. Unusual plants, refurbished tools, best compost bins and home-made teas available.
Society trials new varieties of Sweet Peas, trial results are on our web page. We also try to encourage more people to participate in the growing and showing of Roses and Perpetual & Border Carnations.
For 40 years the society (900 members) had a garden at Tatton Park which has been taken over by the National Trust. We are now developing a new garden at the nearby 40 acre Quinta Arboretum.
We are a small club in the Peak District, with 13 members. We have just completed a project of planting bulbs for the millennium. We are planning other projects with a gardening theme to raise funds for the High Peak Hospice.
The Irish Garden Plant Society was formed in 1981, in response to a wish expressed by gardeners throughout the island of Ireland for the conservation of garden plants and gardens. A range of fixtures are organised by groups in Dublin, Belfast and Cork.
