RE: Emmenopterys Villa Taranto

Up to 26m tall tree with summer white-bracteous flowers, is regarded as one of the showiest blooming trees for cold-temperate zones. The first plant known to bloom in Europe was in 1971 in Villa Taranto (Maggiore lake).
Rarely found in the nursery trade as both (vegetative) propagation and pot culture are quite difficult, It tolerates well calcareous soils. When young needs some protection from chilly winds but once established it's very cold hardy (down to -25C!).
Origin: China and SE Asia.

Hope this helps

Ciao
Vincenzo
