I have some seeds from this climber and would like to know how they are best germinated.

Hello Gartenfee,
You have to nick carefully the seed's coat and soack in warm luke water for 1-2 days. They sprout very fast, but need a loot of light and warm to grow up well, so I will wait for a little bit warmer weather. They don't grow well indoor. Anna from Tessin

I have another suggestion. Place the seeds between the sheets of two wet paper towels. Place the towels into a plastic bag and seal it. Wait a few days (making sure the towels remain damp) and you will see the sprouts. Then if the ground is warm enough, plant them directly into the garden.

I also tried soaking them in warm water but the water became cloudy and looked like it had bacteria growing all over.

I found this other method to be much better. Timing is the key...you cannot put the germinating seeds into cold ground...they simply will not grow.

Ciao,
OITGAD

Hello,
OITGAD has it right. Ipomoeas generally detest cool. They love heat. I. alba in my experience didn't like being potted so the sooner you plant it where it will go the better.

happy gardening,
Sheila
