Lemon Tree lost its leaves

can someone advise me please? My newly planted lemon tree became a victim of the unusual weather we have experienced. In the gales & very cold temperatures it has lost all but 3 of its leaves. It is a smallish tree - so not mature by any means.

Will it recover & regrow the leaves?

regards

I am in a similar situation. the solution is wait for the weather to improve and first buds appear then prune to improve growth. i this helps.

I had the same experience with a small KumKuat tree, but haven't lost any more leaves since the major shedding, and now looks like new growth is beginning to appear. I'm sure your tree will survive.

Don't worry, it is just the initial shock and weather conditions. It is a tough tree and will definitely recover. Many lemon trees lose their leaves at this time of the year, mine has 15 lemons and is still losing its leaves, and it is in a polytunnel!

I had the same problem with an Italian lemon tree in August I had bought a few months before. I had gone on holiday to San Diego and Mexico for a week, placed the tree near a sprinkler set on a timer, and returned home to find the tree had gone into shock either from the heat or it just was not used to being near a sprinkler since I water them myself. All the leaves had died and fell off every time I moved the container.
I had gone to my local nursery and the garden specialist there gave me a bone meal mixture to apply once every ten days (enough for one month) with regular waterings. After 2 weeks the leaves started growing back little by little and now my tree is back to normal. With a little care, patience, and attention citrus trees make a great comeback. Out of all the citrus trees I have, this lemon is still my favorite tree.

When the lemon tree drops its leaves and the leaves turning yelow before they fal the reason is overwatering.

We had a very hardy leamon tree transplanted in Sept. I lost all it's leave but 6 or 8 and I have been giving it B one about once a month since the transpant. It is March now (in souther california) and today I noticed about 7 little clumps of buds on the very bare tree. What should I do. My husband thinks I should prune the buds off and it will make the tree strong. ?????

I think your tree lost it's leaves as a reaction to being newly planted. In Southern California, I feed my lemon tree 1/2 cup of citrus fertilizer with iron each month beginning in January and ending in June. My tree is always loaded with lemons so much that the branches are bending over and totally covering the trunk of the tree. I understand that this is how professional growers manage their lemon trees. Good luck!

PS. If you're in Espania, plant orange trees!! Gorgeous!
