John, welcome to the wonderful addiction of Passiflora! The Caerulea is the easiest Passiflora to grow as long as it has well drained soil (that's why it does so well at the base of houses - all the builders rubble!) Mine get sun nearly all day and our summer temps are usually about 30ºC, winter rarely falls below 5ºC but it will stand freezes (I've read temps down to -15ºC). Unless you are willing to have suckers coming up miles from the plant I suggest you grow it in a large pot. Fertilizer - mine gets whatever I have available for other things - it really is not a fussy plant as long as it doesn't get waterlogged. I have about 50 different passis and the Caerulea is the one I never worry about - just let it do its thing and mow down the suckers! You should have no trouble growing it in Greece.

Hi

I have two passiflora in my garden, I also live in the South of Spain, a few tips for you.

Sow seed of species in spring under glass. Take semi-ripe cuttings of species and cultivars in summer.
Pruning - reduce excessive growth in early spring. Regularly pinch back during the growing period to restrict size. Thin out all weak shoots.

Hope you enjoy the delights of your passion flower when it grows;)

John, send me a message with your address and I'll send you seed of the varieties of Passi I have available at the moment. However, I must warn you that most of my seed is hybrid (though the plants usually appear similar to the 'mother', and usually the seed is of 'father unknown'!) If you grow a hybrid worth registering you have the honour of naming it and registering it as you germinated the seed! I have 'Coronata' and 'Rinconata' registered. Another warning most Passiflora seed takes ages to germinate (I mean months!) so I have flowerbeds full of unknown passis where I gave up on the seed flats and threw the soil into the garden - where they promply germinated! Never give up on passi seed - if you throw it out remember what it was and where! You can see some of mine on http://www.photobucket.com/albums/v409/cincinnata/
