We're in the process of buying a house in the hills near Colmenar, inland from Malaga, Spain, & though there are (surprise surprise) plenty of olives, some fig, pepper tree, prickly pear, & a few bits & pieces more, I'll need to address loads of unknowns for me - such as what varieties of veg. to grow, how to deal with watering/irrigation in the hotter climate (home is Forest of Dean, UK) etc etc.
Just to know there are folk out there who might have some ideas, have experienced the same problems, & so on, is good news to me!!

Hi Fiona

Welcome to gardening in Spain! I have lived in Alora for almost 3 years now and the garden was and still is a challenge. I decided to keep a Mediterranean Garden diary on my own website fairly recently. There may be some useful information, things I have learnt along the way etc. I would also highly recommend 'Heidi Gildermaster's' Mediterranean Gardening - a mine of information.
