Hardy Aloe ciliaris hybrid

Hi,
I'm seeking after a hybrid Aloe that looks a lot like Aloe ciliaris (climbing Aloe), but can take some frost (my garden in French Catalonia experiences a transient - 5°C/ 23° F once or twice nearly every winter). I've read such an Aloe is used as a ground cover in Southern California. Any idea where (or from whom) I could get a stem cutting ?
Thanks for your help
Regards,
Gerard |

| Hi Gerard - I would defintely get in touch with the Catalonian Branch of the MGS, who recently visited Jardín Botánico Tropical Pinya de Rosa, which is apparently well-known for its Aloe collection. I suspect you may be able to find this plant there or at least get some resource information from them. Best of luck, Sean O. |

Hi Seán, Thanks for the answer. The possibility of joining the Catalonian branch of the MGS is certainly something I'm considering. What has refrained me is the fact that I'm living and working in Toulouse, 230 km far from my Catalonian house (2 hours driving by the highway). I'm spending my leisure time (lot of week ends and most vacation days) in Catalonia as often as possible, but no as often as I would like! I wish I could dedicate more time to my garden ! Anyway, I agree with your suggestion, I should (and will) contact them. Go raibh máith agat, merci ! Gerard |
