Can anyone help? I heva a potted olive plant and the small branches that have the flowers and fruit seem to be drying out dropping off. Could I be under watering or over watering it?

Dear Tony

I'm new to this forum. I live in Spain, surrounded by olive trees which are flowering about now too. If your plant has flowered that is a good sign. It hasn't rained here for a while: I shouldn't think your plant needs much water at all, rather a poorish soil, lots of dry heat... Maybe just try changing its position? Olives are pretty tough!

Best of luck

Susan

Well mate, the Uk is very marginal for olives so it will need treating like they used to treat citrus trees in the good old days - out doors in the summer heat and under cover during the winter, no frost, and v little water during the winter and watering when needed during the summer. I think your chances of olive fruit are a bit slim. Incidentally I am not sure which part of UK you live. Kent might be OK Bacup a bit dodgy.

Tony,
I am french from Marseille and member of the southern horticultural society. We have a varietal collection of olive trees and It seems to me that yours has been watered too much. Try to be sured that it grows in a real permeable soil.
Sorry for my english.
Where are you in UK we are going for a garden tour in Yorkshire in May.
Regards Eric
