seeds to take to Ukraine?

| I know this is the Mediterranean forum, but I am going to a place where the climate is fairly close (Crimea). Being a gardener, I want to take some seeds over to the Ukraine when I go this fall. I'd like to take something that would be considered unique and will really bless someone.
Any suggestions? |

| Many of our favorites here are also widespread in Ukraine - poppies, hollyhocks.. heirloom tomatoes. I would suggest some flowers or grasses that are native to the American Midwest. If you're not sure of what's native to our area, check out Prairie Nursery (www.prairienursery.com) for ideas. Some favorites would be false indigo (baptisia) or purple coneflowers. I'd avoid anything invasive (creepers like obedient plant or self-seeders) because you wouldn't want to jeapordize Crimea's unique ecology. Heirloom vegetables from the US or someplace unusual (like a Lebanese tomato) could be interesting, too. Good luck in your travels! |
