Dracaena Marginata

I have a Dracaena Marginata living in my courtyard for the last 7years.It has 3 branches.This week the centre of one of the growing tips was found to have turned white & fell off.
The remaining core looked a bit iffy & I found that along the branch there was a green nodule.I amputated the affected branch just above this nodule & I am hoping my plant will grow on.Some of the leaves on the 2 remaining branches do occasionally turn brown but I just trim them.
Do you think my plant will survive?
