Anyone else gardening in Malta?

Hi,
We are English and moved here Sept 2008. Any other gardeners in Malta on here?
I guess every country has it's gardening problems. I must say that I am glad not to have moved to Rhodes if goats are a problem. I LOVE the image of the pig in the swimming pool and 2 goats on sun loungers.
Fortunately here in Malta we have big high walls and no roaming goats.
I am experimenting and trying to find what grows best here. Having to also abandon some favourites like fuchsias in favour of Madagascan Periwinkles.
