Ground cover on Mallorca

Postat av arol mallorca (My Page) den

Does anyone have any ideas on suitable groundcovering plants for Mallorca (southeast)?
Not so high that you cannot walk over it and with a bit of color.

Vinca major? It can take heat and drought and in the spring has pretty blue/purple flowers.

It also would depend on whether you will be irrigating the plantings, and need something that can tolerate being stepped on, or would use stepping stones through the area. Some of the more commonly used groundcovers here in California include the various succulents such as Lampranthus, Carpobrotus, Senecio mandraliscae, Aptenia 'Red Apple', or Thymus, Gazanias, Lippia, Myoporum parvifolium, Scaevola, etc. A personal favorite of mine for low water use and full sun to part shade is the South African Plectranthus neochilus, but it is not really a walk on ground cover, but does bloom all year round here in San Francisco.
