Looking for other gardeners living in Spain

Although I have specific questions regarding plants and how to care for them in our region - as a newcomer to this site - I would first like to find out if there are any keen gardeners living in our region of Spain.
We are near El Perello, Baix Ebre, Catalunya, Spain.( 40 kms south of Tarragona )
We have very strong winds here and gardening is difficult - so would love to make contact with other keen gardeners in or near our region.
If there is anyone out there near to us - please reply.

Hi Viv, My name is Colin and I live a little further north than you, 25kms from France and 35kms north of Girona. We have the same problems as yourselves take a look at our blog link which shows some photographs. I know your area as I looked at houses around Tortosa. Please feel free to make contact, we would be only too pleased to share ideas and experiences. Colin and Carol

I don't live near you either, but about 8 miles outside Cadiz on the Costa de la Luz, where the wind can be ferocious, both hot and cold. We have been gardening here for nearly 4 years and before that in Portugal. Colin and I read one another's blogs and get good ideas from one another (well, I do!) if you'd like to have a look at this http://salamanderverde.blogspot.com/

as you can see i live in the costa blanca. my villa is 25 km inland and almost at the base of sierra crevillente. i have severe winds as well and cooler temps than the coast. i grow many tropical plants in my enclosed patio. i love spanish weather even though the land is difficult to work. as i have 1.5 acres there is a lot to do. still it is a big learning curve and would like to share ideas with anyone. Good luck and happy gardening. Plumeria i got for my birthday just flowered so am happy as larry.

Hi there, my name is Mijo and I live between Perello and Rasquera, 350 m up the mountain - so very close to you!! We've been here for 15 months now and I have had one pretty good kitchen garden season and am now very busy getting on with landscaping and planting the area around the house. I probably have more questions than you, but feel free to get in contact if you have a question - or a tip!! I've just dug up a bunch of wild-growing grasses and herbs and stuff and planted that around the house in borders and similar areas, thinking that if they can grow wild here, maintenance should be less of a hassle - I am very excited to see how that will turn out. Also trying with honeysuckle, hop and wisteria but as you say, the wind is a killer...Do you grow veggies as well as ornamentals? Saludos, Mijo
