hello gardening friends
I saw delonix regia in flower on the web its superb.By searching deeper on the question it seems that it is rather easy to cultivate it from seeds after all it will take ten years before flower. So I am looking for any person who has the tree in his garden which is still flowering to become perhaps a couple of grafting wood to graft it myself or can
anyone give me a location where i could buy a grafted plant?
thanks for any reply and much gardening pleasure.

Hi Antoine, I don't think Delonix regia has ever been grafted. There are nice specimens that are grown as street trees in Tel Aviv, they are recovering from the winter and are not yet flowering. They require a lot of heat to flower and will do so only during the hotest summer months. In southwestern Europe (excluding Canaria islands and Portuguese islands), the only specimens I are aware of are growing in Malaga, I am not sure if they really flower every year. In the US, D. regia in blooms can be seen in Miami, for instance, but they normally do not flower in California (outdoors-planted trees, I mean). Germination is easy and young plants are available at www.palmaris.org, for instance. Regards Gerard (France) |

hallo Jover I open justly my mailbox on the gardenweb and i saw your reply wherefor I thank you very much indeed. yes of course I should be delighted to receive fresh seeds to germinate it myself. I know it is not a common way to grafth delonix but browsing the web I learned it will take at least ten years before seed is coming to flower, only by grafthing it will be much shorter. So perhaps I will try later.FIRST I must have understock! I thank you very much for your reply and remain with best regards a.bultinck@skynet.be |

Hi from Spain I saw these trees in Australia and Fiji and loved them. I took photos and tracked down seeds from England. They germinated, but winter came and they died. I then got a garden centre to order a small tree for me, which I planted two weeks ago, and so far is thriving. So we shall see if it survives. Watch this space! |

| I know that this is an old posting but if you want Delonix seeds I can post you buckets full!!! They are a nuisance tree in Australia and become quite messy in the garden, and also invade natural bushland as a weed - sure are a pretty sight though. I am also able to source they yelloe form if you are interested so let me know. |
