| I've tried to find some information on 3 roses that were hybridized by him sometime in the 1920s forward,Empress of Russia, Princess Anastasia, and Anna Karenina. I would be very thankful for anything. Sincerely, Kathryn |

Hello Kathryn, I did not find the names of the Russian rose trees that you search but I have that of Anna Alexeif obtain by Margottin in 1859. You can find it in this book :"Roses Jardins" marie-Thèrèse Haudebourg, Hachette, France, p.84. It's noted that : " On a vigorous shrub with the thick and rather thorny branches, with the generous foliage, appear large corymbes of large very double pinks of a beautiful dyes pink clear salmon The flowers go up much with the autumn. It is an excellent shrub of garden (height 1,20 meters)." Bye. NadineRX. |

Anna Karenina rose is available in the US. I have seen it in our local nursery in Seattle. I was attracted by name but flowers looked dissapointing. They were very small(smaller than average mini), not fragrant, sparse, red-pink color. The bush had very twigly growth and I was unipressed. I am not sure about Princess Anastasia. If it is white, I saw it at the same nursery and was impressed. I can not recall if it was Anastasia or Princess Anastasia. |
