 o
garden design

I have a question on garden design. I have an existing cottage garden and I am moving and taking my roses (250) with me to a new home. I am interested in creating more of a traditional garden and am having a 20 ft by 16 ft Lord and Burnham glass house designed and installed in my back yard. Opposite this I was planning to install an Agriframe metal 8 ft bower with an Agriframe metal 13 ft. pergola on either side of it to mimic the Roseraie de l' Hay. Now the big question. Do typical traditional gardens in Europe have the two side perimeters connected with trellises like the Agriframe screens with the curved Monet or Byzantine tops or do they leave them open? I do not plan to build a walled garden such as you would find at a castle. My other option is to install posts and have chain swags. Any comments?

Steve

RE: garden design

I'm going the posts with swags route right now and have liked it so far.
