Ola, please can anybody help? In the strong sun, dry soil and hot climate of southern spain, which roses can I grow? Are they better in light shade? The only ones I have seen are hybrid teas! susieG

hi there, You can grow all king of roses in the south of spain as long you are watering them regularly. The roses get much finer there as the climate is comparable with the origin location in Turkey and related areas. I have visited last year a rosarium in Granada, and I was astonished about how many varities grew there. Hems

Spain has a Mediterranean climate like California and Southern Oregon where I live. You will be able to grow fabulous roses as long as you have enough water. You may need to give the deep reds some afternoon shade. Tea-noisettes, teas, and chinas will be great there and most of the other classes except perhaps some of the gallicas and albas.
