Roses in Helsinki/Tampere/Hanko/Jyvaskyla?

| We just returned from Finland, and they have the most lovely hedge roses there. They were planted in the medians on the freeways traveling into the major cities, as well as in gardens. They were either deep pink or pure white, with mostly single flowers with very long petals on each flower (4-5 cm, perhaps?). The flowers looked very delicate before they fully opened, and very much resembled a piece of folded tissue paper. Does anyone know what they are, or where I might look to find out what they are?
Thank you! |

| Generally Finland are mostly known for their rugosas and their pimpinellifolias, and your description fits simple red and white rosa rugosas, but I assume you would know rugosas if you saw them? |
