My ne'er do well rose

I have this one and only rose that was already in the garden when we moved in some 4 years ago and it never does well. My mom's garden had plenty of rose bushes and i would tend them constantly and they would bloom as they should but this one is weak. Its not a tall bush but quite low and i was thinking it might be a miniature like those you can buy mother's day etc. I moved it from the heavy soil of the front garden to the back,no joy and its now back in the front garden and has buds all over it. The flowers are quite small i suppose compared to most roses so is it a mini and what can i do to get it to grow?

It sounds like a mini as you also suspect so there is not much you can do to make it taller. It's not in its genes to get big. Heavy but improved soil is ideal for roses of any class so your site is probably okay for it. So enjoy your little rose and either buy more of the same for more impact or venture into taller growing roses if you prefer them. Or you could grow your mini in a pot so you can see it better.
