Care of roses in southern Spain

Postat av Marianne018 mid-Sweden (My Page) den

I have been asked by a Swede with a vacation home in Spain how to take care of her potted roses. They have flowered well up to now but seem to have finished for the season, no more buds. She has watered and fed them well with liquid feed every two weeks and put them in shade during the middle of the day.

My climate is as different as can be imagined but my advice to her was to let the roses rest now, stop feeding them but water sparingly. Prune around Christmas and then start feeding them again, and re-pot if necessary. Was this good advice or not? If not there is still time to give counterorders!
