Videos of pruning rose/winter care

Hi everyone!

I'm from Estonia and I'm a very young gardener (mostly roses, and water lilies). And I have a small wish - I'm a member of Estonian Rose club (Eesti Roosiklubi - http://www.roosiklubi.eu/). Well the problem is that most of the members are older people and they can't speak English. I'm the youngest member and can speak English very well. So - they asked me to find some videos of pruning roses are how to prepare the rose for the winter. Well, our winter might come very cold (forecasters say that the third winter might come the coldest: -35C and lots of snow - last year it was 70 cm of snow).

Thank you!!
Tony (Tnis)

RE: Videos of pruning rose/winter care

Hi Tony, I see you have not received any replies. I grow roses in Canada which gets very cold as well. I did a google search on how to prepare the roses for the winter and here is what I found:

http://www.uk.gardenweb.com/forums/load/roses/msg1014062614944.html

Just cut and paste it into your browser to see how it's done.

I normally just cut the roses a bit so the wind does not break the stems and in the spring cut back the dead stems. I also pile up some soil around the rose and in the spring pull it back.

Take care...Anna.
