Bonjour !
Je suis fort tenté par la culture de l'Hybride Remontant 'Souvenir d'Alphonse Lavallée'.
Qui peut me parler de son expérience personnelle de la culture de ce rosier ???...( expérience positive ou moins positive )...d'avance merci !
I only had this rose for a short while, I gave it away due to its reputation for blackspot since I do not spray chemicals. However, it is supposedly one of the healthier of the Hybrid Perpetuals. It has lanky, long pliable canes that would probably do well as a pillar or pegged rose. From what I understand, all hybrid perpetuals are heavy feeders. They benefit from protection from the afternoon sun. They dislike any type of root competition. Forgive me for not knowing how to say this en francais!
Thank you for your response, which gives the confirmation that the HP are very "voracious", needs a well-ventilated location, and seems to dislike a full-sun location all the day...
In fact, I'm looking for a medium-sized climber with the most veryveryvery dark roses as possible and other qualities like vigour, leaves abundance, health ( the better health as possible...I'dont have any "sweet milky dream" about this! ), and possibility of repeat. My final choice is not yet totally standed on 'S d'A L'...( others names of varieties experienced by rosomaniacs are welcome !). I like the shape and medium size, the rich deep colour of the flower of this variety...but it's difficult to find very detailed informations about this.
Probably, I know what I...don't...like : the short-lived red roses which takes a obvious " cemetery-dusty-dull-greyish-pathetic mauve " colour as the end of their live.
...and you, pleaseplease, forgive me for my "spiny-rough" and "black-spotted" english langage !
You may want to ask the many passionate rose people on the Antique Rose Forum for the perfect dark red rose. Mostly Americans on this forum, but your English is excellent and you will get a lot of friendly responses, trust me!
