Looking for source for rose...

It is called "Red Dragon" a hybrid perpetual bred in England by William Paul. It is described as Crimson red with double bloom form.

Any help tracking this rose down would be appreaciated!

Maria

Just got...

I was curious since I just bought a China rose called "White Pearl in Red Dragon's Mouth" and wondered if they were related somehow...

Thanks,

Maria

Hi Maria (that's my sister name!),
I'm don't have an answer to your question, but I have a question for you! I noticed on your trade list that you are growing, "Hattie Button". What can you tell me about this rose? How are the blooms? Has it been hardy for you?
I was thinking of getting this rose come Spring, so any info would be greatly appreciated! Also, I would be interested in trading cuttings - I've never done it, but if you're interested, I have: William Baffin, Viking Queen, John Cabot, John Davis and Ramblin' Red.

Hello,

I do not have any trace of a "Red Dragon" HP.
Should be a fancy name, do you know of any synonym?
Best wishes,
Pete.

Bonjour
I have found in "the dictionary of the roses" of Finger the description of ' Red dragon' obtained by William
PAUL in 1878:
Climbing hybrid of a crimson shining, clearly and sharp colour at the same time;
the flowers double, are well formed, vigorous;
the foliage is green glaucous
The variete resulting de' Charles lefebvre';
this rose resembles to 'Marie Baumann' much .

Thanks Dominique,

This Rose isn't present at l'Haÿ.
If it belongs to the "Charles Lefebvre" group, it has a bit
"Safrano" blood and should not do Alaska zone 4, while the
"Rosomènes" should with a good winter-protection (able without up to USDA zone 5)
Best wishes,
Pete.
