| They usually grow in swamplike areas, they are most common in the northern part of Sweden, in the south they are rare. You need 2 plants to get fruit one male, one female. They are difficult to grow for commersial production most berries in jam are handpicked in the areas where they grow wild. Both swedish, norwegian and I think the finnish are trying to select plants that can be grown more commersially and they have been trying for many, many years. I know there have been som luck in this selecting I read an article in one of our papers for proffessional growers that they had successfully produced many plants and that they where going to plant them at a farmers land in the north of sweden that had the right environment. They probably need several years to see if the commersial production works. |
