Lawn edging

| I am looking into a different type of lawn edging and I quite fancy a sort of 'rustic' edging of cotswold stone. The only drawbacks I see are A, the cost and B, not being able to cut the lawn with a mower right up to the edge and maybe having to use a strimmer.
Any thoughts? |

There are some artificial stone edging in garden centres which are cheaper than the real thing. There might be a cotswold stone effect available. If you put the edging down with it proud of the grass edge you will have to use a strimmer. If you dont have or don't want to purchase a strimmer then I suggest you place the edging just below the grass edge so when you cut the grass with your mower you can go up to and over the edge without catching the blades on the stone. Of course this method of placing the stone will not show it to it's full potential so having it proud of the grass edge will look better so the strimmer will have to be used. |

| It may not be practical in your situation but consider the inclusion of what we call a mowing strip. This would be something like a brick on edge situated between the vertical stone and the lawn, and flush with the grass. This enables the mower to run with wheels on the brick while cutting the grass. |
