| Yes, indeed! My sweet peas are growing as we speak! Which ones do you grow, garden nerd? |

| I've sown nothing yet in the new year, but was thinking of starting off a few sweet peas as I have some seeds left over from last year. They came from a cheap packet in Lidl but weren't bad. I have some ruby chard and late-germinating broad beans seedlings in the greenhouse which were sown last year. I'd also like to sow some chilli seeds indoors but I suspect it's insanely early. |

Must check my sweet peas in the morning. I've been remiss, I usually check at half-hourly intervals to see if anything's sprouted yet! I got a packet of 4 varieties which look like an innocuous mix of scented pinks and blues. More interesting is a packet, maybe from the Plantsman range, which claims to produce dark blue velvetty sweet peas. The picture looks stunning but I'll believe it when I see it. I've also thrown in a few perennial/ tree/ shrub seeds which I think would benefit from a cold spell, including some seeds from Crazylady's seed exchange. |

Lettuces & spring onoins in the g/h in cell trays. Palms of various kinds in the airing cupboard. Can't wait to get outside and get real dirty in the garden! Have loads of other tropical seeds to start but will wait a little while longer...maybe this afternoon! Gill. |

| mmm, yep. got some Gaura on the go, also Dicranostigma, Browallia, Anemone sylvestris, Incarvillea 'Cheron', Milium effusum and Adenophora Tryphylla. Also, got a couple of sorbus stratifying and broad beans and parsnips have just gone in on my allotment. oh yes, rhodochiton and some nemesia. Yep, I know it's early but it has been a long hard winter so far - dark, skint, bored, you know....so couldn't help myself. |

| Drosanthemum seeds are germinating outside. My alpine poppies that I sowed in September have sent up another wave of seedlings in the last couple of weeks. And I'm sowing loads of cacti and succulents inside under lights. Spring is here! |

One of the things I love about garden forums is hearing about the plants people are growing that I've never even heard of! I'm in that annoying grey area where it's still too cold to take the bubblewrap off the green house and really get started - anyway, it's still needed to house all my tender stuff so there's not a lot of room for seed trays. Also, the garden looks like a tip bcause there are piles of mulch and bubble wrap everywhere protecting the buried dahlia tubers and I can't take it off yet, it's too early. But some things are starting to come up already. Grrr! If poppies are germinating for people perhaps I'd better go out and broadcst a few seeds into the garden - I've never been able to get them going in trays. |

| Everything I grow is common as muck. In the ground I think I have some corn poppy seedlings coming up. Apart from that, loads of corydalis lutea, most of which I'm hoeing out. It turned up in the garden of its own accord in a difficult spot but I can see it becoming a real nuisance. Not much else going on except some mystery seedlings I found in a foil-sealed pack which I'd lost the paper packet to. I sowed them in a empty windowbox and they've germinated well. Still haven't a clue what they are but I'll assume it's something OK if it was in a packet. I found some kind of mystery seedling at the back of the border which is weird-looking. Probably a weed, I don't recognise it. I sowed some lettuce, pak choi and mustard spinach in the GH but they have not germinated yet. It's been dead mild here for a few weeks but we had something of a cold snap in the last few days. My chillies and sweetpeas have germinated now - not all of the chillies yet but I'll end up having too many if they all do, anyway. |

| I sowed some helianthus and it's taking forever for them to germinate. I have them in four window boxes down on the ground. I am going to wait a little before I sow anything else. |
