I have recently purchased 4 of these bulbs and want to grow them outside. The label didn't give much information but I have since found out that they can be tender. I don't want the trouble of overwintering them under glass. Can they survive outside all year round? We live in the northeast and have a sheltered south facing position against a wall that might help.

I think you will be very lucky if they survive outside in your area. I about manage with them in a sheltered garden on well drained soil in Cornwall, and we rarely get frosts. Given excellent drainage and the protection of a wall as well as a good mulch you may get away with it.

Thanks. I will try them and see what happens. We have had heavy frosts this winter but I am planting them out next month against a protected wall.
