Roses - alternatives to alfalfa

Posted by joannacala z10 (Israel) (My Page) on

On the US Rose forum alot of people use a magic alfalfa brew for their roses, but I am unable to find it where I live. I am from the UK and could import from there. What do people use there? Any magic home brews out there for roses?!
Thanks
Joanna

You can get alfalfa seeds easily - it's often grown as a green manure. As far as I know, alfalfa tea is made in a similar way to comfrey tea.. and doesn't need to be commercially bought.

Alfalfa pellets are used as an animal feed (horses etc...) try contacting an animal feed suppliers (ie that supplies farmers/stables etc )

Use manure. It might be old-fashioned and boring but it works. Horse feed is much better after its gone through the horse ;)
