Sweet Peas

I have some sweet peas, started off last year and now about 10cm in the cold frame. When can these go in the ground? They are already pinched out and looking pretty healthy!

RE: Sweet Peas

You don't want to be putting them out too early. There's nothing to be gained by it if the soil is too cold — they will not put out any roots. And they are prone to damage through wind-rock, so unless you can see that they are actively growing I would keep them in the cold frame for now. It would be a shame to lose your plants at this stage, having got them this far. I have tried autumn-sowing sweet peas several times but they always succumb to mice They are a problem for spring-sowing peas, too, but at this time of the year I can always quickly get some more going as replacements.
