Aqualegia Plants - Safe to Plant Out Yet?

Posted by sexyjw (My Page) on

Hi,

I bought 12 tiny Aqualegia plants from B&Q in January - they seemed like a bargain. They have all done really well, and last month I repotted into 3" pots.

They are in an unheated conservatory at the moment. They are getting pretty big (about 4" spread), and it's looking like either planting out, or repotting again.

My question is, therefore, will these be hardy enough to plant out in the garden, or is the upcoming frost going to kill them off? I see that they are a perennial, so once established, should not be a problem.

Thanks

John

They are tough and hardy but yours have been under cover so don't plant them out with these hard frosts forecast. Harden them off by placing them outside for a few hours every day and plant out when they have become accustomed to outdoor conditions.

Wait until the snow stops and then start hardening them off ;)

Plant them out on Thursday (22nd), the current cold snap is forecast to finish on Wednesday.

Couldn't you be a bit more specific, Pineresin? Morning or afternoon? ;-)
