Cherries on chalk soil

I am thinking to plant a cherry tree on a site that gets the sun and wind, and is also chalky soil. Would "Stella"
variety be a good one ? Has anyone experience of such ?

RE: Cherries on chalk soil

Culinary cherries are fairly tolerant of acidity or alkalinity but as they are early to flower they do benefit from a sheltered site to encourage pollinating insects. Although 'Stella' is self fertile it will crop heavier when suitable pollinators are present. Full sun is good.
