Bourgainvillea 'Droppings'

| I have one in a partially heated conservatory, which has been flowering since I bought it 5 months ago.
The lower leaves and the table it stands on (and the floor)are covered in small white bits about 1-2mm long. I checked with a 100x microscope and they are not white fly, which was my first suspicion. I think it must be pollen?
Is this usual? |

| What about Thrips? Mine suffered from them, never could get rid of them, leaves fell if sprayed, fell if you didn't. Pete |

| If that was the problem, surely they would move about, which they don't. |

| The small white bits are probably the skins shed from aphids. They will be accompanied by sticky honeydew if that is so. You checked with a microscope and declare that they are not white fly. So what do they look like then? |

| You could be right simon H. I took a leaf from high up the plant and put it under the 100x microscope. I could see little stalks with a globule of transparent liquid on the ends. But again, nothing moved about. It is sticky, but I thought I would see them if they were aphids, which are usually easy to see with the naked eye. You can't hoover them up from the table the plant stands on, probably due to the stickiness. I think I am going to give it a good trim and spray with insecticide to see what happends |
