'Autumn Joy' doesn't self-seed - does it?

I've had some Sedum 'Autumn Joy' in my garden for a few years and last year I moved it to a sunnier position. I also left the flower heads on all through the winter and early spring - often I've removed them a bit earlier than this. Just today I noticed a couple of seedlings coming up next to the main clump. At least I think they are seedlings - they are considerably smaller than those parts of the plant sprouting back up from the root. I thought Autumn Joy was supposed to be sterile, though. Is there any chance I'm going to get something slightly different?

I've never seen seedlings. It is possible that the plant is potentially fertile but requires a different clone to set seed, which will rarely be present since all 'Autumn Joy's are clones of eachother.
