petunias

Hi,
I planted some petunias from the garden centre for the first time ever so I'm not very knowledgeable about them. I think the label said they flower until August. Half of them are still going strong but the other half seem to be 'spent' - their lush green leaves are still going strong but there seems to be no sign of new buds about to grow. Would it be premature to dig them out and replace? I've got bizzie lizzie's in mind as a suitable replacements for these places

RE: petunias

Have you been deadheading there religously? Not just the coloured bit of the spent flowers, but the little stems they grow on as well? If you do that and keep them well watered, and they are planted in a sunny spot, then they should keep on flowering away all summer. If they have just stopped for a while, dont worry, they are simple and reliable bedding plants and will soon kick off again.
