Laurel hedge problem
| | |
Posted by dellboy (My Page) on Thu, May 29, 08 at 8:44
| I planted a laurel hedge 2 years ago and it is growing well, but recently the young leaves on new growth are turning black and are crumbling almost asif they have been frost damaged - except there's been no frost. We have had 4 weeks with no rain, could this be the reason? Any ideas on what causes this and how I could tackle it? |

| Is it really Laurel (Laurus nobilis), or just Cherry-laurel (Prunus laurocerasus)? If the former, the young leaves can be scorched by cold winds even without frost, just below about 5°C or so (which has happened on quite a few occasions in the last month here). Cherry-laurel shouldn't suffer this. Resin |
