Mildew on deutzia

Posted by FISBEY MIDDLESEX (My Page) on

I planted a Deutzia about a month ago and it is doing fine apart from white powdery stuff on some of the leaves (in fact some of the leaves have turned yellow and fallen off) - I prepared the ground pretty well and have kept it well watered. I suspect the mildew (?) has come from one of my infamous Euphorbias which are behind it in pots...

Any experience/advice?

Spray with a baking soda solution?

It might just be going through its 'I've been planted' routine and intends to pick up once it's re-established its root system.

I'm surprised to hear your Euphorbias harbour mildew - unless they're the 'sun' variety (E helioscopia) that get orange blotches on come autumn. Theyre capable of Anything!
