Dicksonia antartica Tree fern

Thank you for your reply about the decreasing circumference of my tree fern crown. I have increased the watering as Kayman suggested, but he also suggested using water-retaining gel. Should this be placed in the crown or in the pot the tree fern is planted in?

I'd meant for you to add it to the potting compost. Not sure how well placing it in the crown would work. You might also try feeding it by adding a little slow-release fertiliser directly into the crown.

My tree fern is loosing its fronds. They droop at first then fall. The DA is 6 years old and has always produced about a dozen 6 foot fronds. Any ideas what could be causing this guys?
