Blackcurrant cuttings from Ribena

| Anyone interested in growing soft fruit might like to know that Ribena are running a competition offering blackurrant cuttings as prizes. It seems that it's pretty easy to win. The first ribena bottle I bought was a winner and they're advertising a 95% chance of a prize. It tells you whether you've won on the back of the label, which of course you can't see until you've drunk the contents.
I've emailed them to ask which variety the cuttings are. They're Ben Hope. Seems like a fun way to get a few blackcurrant bushes going, even though they might take a couple of years to give a decent crop.

| Rooted cuttings, or just cuttings that you have to root yourself?? And good virus-free stock? I bet not! Resin |

| Don't know whether they are rooted or not, but as I've never had a problem rooting blackcurrants in the past, I'm not too bothered. Virus free? Well I don't know the answer to that one either, but I'm willing to risk it. |

| I've got a couple of the vouchers. I should think they'd be rooted cuttings. Cutting to order would seem a bit labour-intensive and a lot of effort. Most of these offers are run through an established company (like Parkers) so they just deal with the application as they would a normal order. I'm just not sure how many cuttings you can get. It says only one application per household. Not sure if that means only one voucher or one application with any number of vouchers. I should think you could rely on a Ribena offer. You can have my vouchers if you like. |

| Thank you, that's very kind, I would love your vouchers. Would you like me to send you a SAE? |

| No, just tell me where to send them and I'll put them in the post. |

Hello, My stepson sent off for one of these cuttings, it arrived un-rooted but began showing roots within a week in a glass of water on the kitchen windowsill. A good way to get kids off playstations and into the garden!! |
