Looks like rhubarb, but ...???

Could you help me identify a plant I saw recently in the Gardens in Bournemouth? Looks a bit like a rhubarb plant, but is merely decorative. Quite big. Grows in half-shade, in fairly damp conditions. Sorry, no photo. Thanks in advance!

Do you think it might be ,'Gunnera', it grows to a great size, and in damp ground, and is very fashionable at the moment.

Probably one of the ornamental Rheums, such as Rheum palmatum. Try the images on a Google search.

Thank you, Brian and Hawthorn Cottage. Have had a look at both with Google - not sure which of the two it is. No doubt one or the other. The only other thing is that in winter it is not visible, dies back. Does that eliminate one of them?! Unless somebody lives near the Upper Gardens in Bournemouth!

Thanks, Louholla - I think you're right. According to what I see and read about it with Google. If it does die back as well ... When I go to Bournemouth in winter it isn't half so noticeable. It's also growing by the Bourne stream, in ideal conditions for the gunnera apparently. Must be that. Tks again!
