Do Ducks harm ponds?

A pair of ducks have taken residence in our pond and all I see is heads down, bums up so they are eating something but what? Do they do any harm?

If the pond has no filter then ducks will quickly dirty the pond and will also eat everything and anything that will fit in their bills. They are fairly indiscriminate eaters.

We keep ducks and as we have a small still pond we fence it off from them and supply them with two we can empty and refill on a regular basis.

Depends on the size of the pond. If it is large, no. If it is very small, they might have a marked effect on the pond's ecology, but equally, they won't stay long unless tempted to stay by artificial feeding.

If you have any sort of planting in or round it it will get destroyed...as you have probably noticed by now!
