Field maple seedling for broom style bonsai

| I found a field maple seedling in my garden and would very much like to train it into a mame broom style bonsai. Can anyone give me any tips? Its currently about 4 inches tall with a fairly skinny but woody trunk. (I don't know how to upload a picture otherwise would do so)
I've cut off 4 of the leaves that were there in the hope that it will improve branching...
