Ceanothus Blue Mound very dried out

I have recently moved and my ceanothus in a large tub has really suffered. I might not have watered it diligently and now it is crispy. I have been watering it since but it has not improved. My father in law has said it will come back as they are from the hot hills of california but I am thinking it is dead. It is still green but all the budding flowers crumble on touch.

Such a shame. Any ideas?

Don't give up on it yet!

In the hot summer two years ago my ceanothus in a container dried out while we were away. We came home to find every single leaf blackened and scorched while the branches were brittle and broken without any sign of life. We wrote it off as entirely dead but never got around to removing it.

About a month later we noticed a tiny tuft of green sprouting from the trunk and by the end of the year it was really trying to come back. It didn't flower much last year but this year it is restored to its original state and is flowering as I type.

Good luck with yours!

Well today I have indeed spotted some fresh green growth on the side of the bush. It has been a shame to missed the flowers this year but I will enjoy it more when it flowers next year.

Thank you.

Just to let you know that my blue mound is in the ground having moved again and it is flourishing. It was badly neglected again for a period when we had a lot of building work but it is getting on great now. I love this shrub.
