Strawberries

I started picking my strawberries this morning and was concerned when I saw that several had mildew. Is this a common occurrence, and what should I do to prevent this? I am growing them in a polytunnel, as it is not as yet warm enough outside. Any advice is very welcome.

RE: Strawberries

Same here.. also in a tunnel, also in Ireland, over in Leitrim. This happened last year with some French beans, simply because the humidity in there was too high. When I started leaving the doors open, the flow of air helped so much. So I am doing this now and it is working for the strawberries too. One door off all day now. Also I am picking as they start to ripen and letting them finish indoors. It has been exceptionally wet and humid this year. I do hope this helps. Blessings
