Moles

I appear to have moles - just one or two (at the moment) confined at moment to seeing several mounds on front lawn.
Comments on these 3 points please:
1. Does anyone recommend any sonic devises (UK sources/UK websites only please).
2. I know some people might recommend trapping them but I don't like the sound of this plus the neighbours cats keeps coming to take a peek at the mole(s) and I don't want to harm that.
3. Does something simple like banging down the soil mounds with the back of your shovel or swithcing on the lawn mower regularly put them off? |

Now that strychnine is to be banned from September I cannot call the local old molecatcher with his bucket of worms. a paved area in the garden is a right old mess and all I have tried is mothballs. That didnt seem to do anything.[it certainly kept the mice off the crocus bulbs] I asked an expert in pest control and he said traps or the shovel method....but only when the mole is actally digging. This involves sitting knitting all morning. I have never been around when he is excavating. Apparently they are killed by the vibration if they are under the shovel.Nothing is happening at the moment so I suspect his fortress is finished Look forward to other mole reports |
