| Hi there,
Have a few palms which seem to be doing ok in the garden. I'm just wondering if the dead i.e. black\brown\yellow, brittle ends of the branches should be cut back or left alone?
The palms in question are chinese windmill palm and the Phoenix Canary Island date palm.
Many thanks,

| Those brown or yellow tips are most likely the result of wind damage during winter. You can safely trim them if you want, but to prevent them from dying back again, you need to use a very sharp pair of scissors to get a really clean cut. |

| Just a follow up, trimmed them and worked well seemed to promote new growth also. Also moved the tree to a more sheltered spot in the garden so will hopefully avoid a repeat. |
