Cox's Orange Pippin - spots on leaves

I have a Cox's Orange Pippin that was a 2 yr-old when I got it last December. It blossomed well this Spring, and has put on growth. I've ensured that there will be no fruit this year, so as to allow the tree to funnel all its energy and nutrition into growth.

However, the leaves now have brown spots and blotches on them. I enquired about this from the place I bought it, and was told that it's normal, and might indicate magnesium deficiency. Before I go and get some Epsom Salts though, I'd like some more opinions. I've uploaded some pics here. They can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Can anyone say for certain what's going on? From what I've read, Mg deficiency produces yellowish disclouration.

Your uploaded images no longer work so who knows.
It could be something like scab which attacks leaves of Malus this time of year.

Hi
If it is apple scab, the leaves will be falling by now. If there are still firmly attached, magnesium deficiency sounds like a good bet.

Here is a link that might be useful: Fruit Trees
