Is it safe to put Rhubarb Leaves into a composter. I have been told that they are poisonous.

RE: Composting

I have always put Rhubarb leaves in the compost John and never had any problems.

It does seem to be commonly held that the leaves are poisonous, I think they contain Oxalic acid which probably breaks down during decomposition. So long as you don't eat 'em all will be well.

Yes they are not poisonous to other plants. Mammals very much so. I remember a newspaper report about a newly married lady some years ago who decided to economise by cooking the leaves like cabbage. She became a widow very quickly.
