Pruning a salix 'hakuro nishiki'

We have a salix "hakuro nishiki" planted in our garden which is in desperate need of pruning. Have we left it too late? It was planted last year in a perenial border having spent an unhappy year in a large pot. It is grafted onto a stem which makes it about 5 foot high.

You could prune your Salix now if you wish with little problem. It is best to prune this type of Salix each spring. Always remember to remove any suckers which come from below the graft-remove as soon as seen.
