RE: Bay tree cuttings

Hi Roland, my suggestions are -

Shoots 7-10cm in length taken with a heel or at a node and inserted into a sandy medium beneath a hand light or in a low and lightly shaded cold frame from August to October. Keep moist and syringe daily. (see 'sun frame' on my website.

Layering shoots Sept. and October if you can bring them to ground level. Also try air layering any time during summer.

Hormone rooting aids are optional.

Does your tree not sucker? We find we have a large number of suckers several times a year, and have passed on several to people who simply grow them on. Old McDonald.
