I just bought a plant with this name but can't find it in any of my gardening books. It's about 18" tall with purplish-green foliage, leaves like slim oak leaves, small lavender flowers. Has anyone come across it? -- I would appreciate any info re hardiness, soil preferences etc

I have just looked on Google and there is a referance to Aster cordifolius var. incisus, plus one or two other pages although it is not very clear.

Thanks -- knowing it's a cordifolius variety should help me to decide where to plant it
